En su mayor\u00eda su fuerza es tan escasa que no logra afectar en forma considerable a empresas, negocios y comunidades. Sin embargo, han ocurrido casos como el del 19 de septiembre del 2017 o el reciente terremoto el 16 de febrero del a\u00f1o anterior, que podr\u00edan volver a producirse. A diferencia de otros peligros ocasionados por la misma naturaleza, como las inundaciones y los huracanes, entre otros, un terremoto es un fen\u00f3meno que azota sin aviso, imposible de predecir. Por esta raz\u00f3n, es m\u00e1s importante para el sector privado y las comunidades conocer m\u00e1s a fondo sobre sus riesgos, preparar un plan de mitigaci\u00f3n de esos peligros, y adoptar medidas de mitigaci\u00f3n ante un terremoto destinadas a garantizar la seguridad de los empleados y ciudadanos, as\u00ed como mantener a la empresa en funcionamiento. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Actualmente, las empresas de todo tipo y cualquier tama\u00f1o son la columna vertebral de las comunidades y la fuerza econ\u00f3mica de nuestro pa\u00eds. Las peque\u00f1as empresas constituyen m\u00e1s del 99 por ciento de todas las compa\u00f1\u00edas que cuentan con capital humano, emplean al 50 por ciento de los trabajadores del sector privado, y representan casi el 45 por ciento de la n\u00f3mina del pa\u00eds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Si estas empresas no contin\u00faan con sus operaciones despu\u00e9s del siniestro, esto podr\u00eda afectar el suministro de productos y servicios cr\u00edticos (es decir, medicamentos, alimentos, servicios p\u00fablicos, servicios financieros, etc.), limitar los medios de subsistencia individuales y comunitarios, y demorar considerablemente la recuperaci\u00f3n tras una cat\u00e1strofe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Todas las empresas deben de tomar en cuenta todos los peligros a los que se encuentran expuestas y poder mantenerse en funcionamiento de forma razonable. Al abordar todos los temas relacionados a los riesgos, es indispensable que las empresas tambi\u00e9n incorporen a sus decisiones comerciales y de planificaci\u00f3n soluciones pr\u00e1cticas de mitigaci\u00f3n de riesgos en caso de terremoto.
